100 years of Kelowna General Hospital

Kelowna General Hospital was built in 1908 and this year (2008) it completed its 100 years. April 7-12 is one of the week's when Okanagan Heritage Museum will showcase a special exhibition to commemmorate this milestone. Okanagan Heritage Museum is located on: 470 Queensway Avenue, Kelowna, B.C.

Interestingly, the Okanagan Heritage Museum was awarded $10,000 from the Spirit of BC arts fund from the Kelowna General Hospital Foundation Centennial Committee for the development of this exhibition. The Public Grand Opening of this exhibition took place on Saturday, January 12th.

The Kelowna General Hospital exhibition is developed from the Kelowna Museums’ vast collection of hospital and medical artefacts, hospital records, and historic photographs which tell the stories of the medical personnel (nurses, doctors, and behind-the-scenes staff) who have been a part of the Kelowna General Hospital over the last century.

The admission for this exhibition is by donation. For more information, call (250) 763-2417. Hopefully, the success story of Kelowna General Hospital will continue for many more years.
