33rd Annual Civic and Community Awards

It's time to give recognition to all those men and women who made Kelowna residents proud in the year 2007 and made Kelowna a beautiful place to live in their own special way. Yes, it's time for 33rd annual civic and community awards.

Each year the Civic and Community Awards honour individuals whose achievements and contributions have been of significant benefit to Kelowna. The awards recognize the talent, dedication and generosity of our outstanding, athletes, volunteers, artists and a business whose unique gifts have contributed so greatly to life in Kelowna.

Celebrating community spirit, the awards cover a wide spectrum of accomplishment. Award recipients are chosen by committee, from nominations received from the public. This year's gala dinner and awards presentation will be held on Wednesday, April 23rd at the Grand Okanagan Lakefront Resort and Conference Centre.

The call for nominations will close on Friday, February 15th 2008 at noon. So, if you know someone who deserves an award in any of the following categories then nominate him. There are about 12 different award categories:

1. Male Athlete of the Year.
2. Female Athlete of the Year
3. Augie Ciancone Memorial Award : Award for the most outstanding high school athlete in the area of the Central Okanagan.
4. Bob Giordano Memorial Award: Award for a citizen who contributes significantly through voluntary service to amateur sport, such as coaching or administrative support.
5. Bryan Couling Memorial Athletic Team of the Year Award
6. Central Okanagan Foundation Volunteer Organization of the Year Award
7. Teen Honour in the Arts Awards
8. Corporate Community Award
9. Woman of the Year – Sarah Donalda Treadgold Memorial Award
10. Man of the Year – Fred Macklin Memorial Award
11. Young Female of the Year Award
12. Young Male of the Year Award
