A Weekend Getaway - Penticton, BC

After a long busy week of work, a nice weekend getaway option for residents of the Okanagan Valley and nearby places is Penticton. Penticton is located only 78 kms from Kelowna and about 390 kms from Vancouver. Nestled between Lake Skaha and Lake Okanagan, Penticton has lovely beaches and a lot of fun stuff to do. It offers visitors ample opportunity to unleash their sense of adventure.

Summers in Penticton are marked by clear skies and cool blue waters. Since 1947, Peachfest has been celebrated in the town during summer to mark the harvest of Peaches. Apex Ski resort, located only 30 minutes drive from Penticton is one of the major attractions for the tourists during winters.

During my last visit to Penticton, I had a memorable experience riding a rental scooter on the wide roads of the town. I realised that riding a scooter is not only an enjoyable activity but a fantastic way to discover the town. You don't have to be an expert rider to operate this rental motobike. The scooter can be rented for one to two hours from a rental shop located near the beach for few bucks. Rental shopowners train the first time riders for a few minutes making them familiar with scooter's operations before allowing them on the road. To enjoy a nice meal on patio, you should choose 'Saltys Beach House' restaurant which is a Caribbean style dining place with mouth watering soups, salads and lunch entrees. This picturesque town is one of my favourite places to visit to unwind and enjoy the serene and spectacular beauty of Okanagan Valley.
