Amazing Art work

IMG_2845%20%28Medium%29.JPG It's often said, "A Thing of Beauty is a Joy forever." Every time I pass by W.A.C Bennett Memorial Courtyard and Clock Tower located on corner of Queensway Avenue and Pandosy Street in downtown Kelowna, I am filled with joy and awe. This beautiful piece of architecture is more than just beautification. It inspires and provokes its audience and tells us a story.

It was built by Hartley and Turik Architects and Neon Products in 1981. It was built in memory of William Andrew Cecil Bennett, a Kelowna resident and B.C's longest serving premier. The 20 spires on the tower represent Bennett's 20 years as a premier and 7 steps on either side of the clock represent the number of his terms in office.

If you stand with your back towards this tower, you can view Queens way station and get a glimpse of downtown Kelowna.
