Ever wondered why thousands of visitors are lured to Kelowna year after year for summers? One of the reasons is the city's natural beauty. Kelowna boasts numerous lovely gardens and parks. If you are planning to spend a quiet afternoon getaway with your family but don't want to spend money then visit one of these beautiful parks or gardens:
1. Kasugai Gardens which is an Asian inspired place for relaxation and peace. Situated behind the city hall just north of Queensway, this garden was created in honour of Kelowna's sister city Kaugai, Japan. You can take a walk around the garden to get in all the sights of the waterfall and have a look at the Koi fish.
2. Elysium Garden Nursery is a vast four acre Japanese inspired Garden located on 2834 Belgo Road. It is usually open from early April to mid October. Check out : Elysium Garden Nursery
3. Ben Lee Park is located on Leathead road and is a perfect choice for BBQ get together with friends. Ben Lee park has a state of the art skateboard park that also accommodates BMX bikes and inline skaters.
4. Waterfront Park is popular with children as they can splash around in water.
5. Geert Maas' sculpture gardens and gallery located on 250 Reynolds Road is known for its wide range of bronze sculptures and paintings. This place highlights the work of internationally acclaimed artist Geert Maas. For more information visit: Geert Maas' sculpture gardens and gallery.
6. Bear Creek Park is popular with campers and hikers alike. The park features lakeside camping, over 400 metres of sandy beaches and 5 km of spectacular, well-marked hiking trails. It is usually quite busy during summers. For more information see : Bear Creek Park
7. City Park is my favourite place to hangout with friends and family after a long day of work. Located in downtown Kelowna, this park is situated along the Okanagan Lake.
8. Mission Creek Park is a nice place to have a picnic or to just relax in the shade of the tall trees. Try out Mission Creek Regional Park or Greenway
These gardens and parks intend to relax the visitors and people of Kelowna and are a great choice for an afternoon getaway.
