BC Summer Games 2008

Attention ! Summer sport enthusiasts. BC Summer games society has announced BC Summer Games 2008 in Kelowna from July 24-27, 2008 . Kelowna is hosting BC games for the first time after 1994. The BC Summer Games are held every second year in even calendar years and are held in late July.

Every moment of this four day sporting event from the lighting of the Games torch to the medal presentations ceremonies to the sport competitions and the Closing Ceremony is full of thrill and fun. The City of Kelowna is providing the Games with first-class outdoor/indoor facilities and School District #23 is providing use of school facilities, including gymnasiums for sports, classrooms for dormitories and buses for transportation.

I am seriously considering volunteering for the event. Afterall, when else would I get a chance to see as many as 4000of BC’s best athletes competing in 28 sports ranging from athletics and archery to cycling, sailing, and wrestling. The purpose of BC summer games is

To provide an opportunity for the development of athletes, coaches, and officials in preparation for higher levels of competition in a multi-sport event which promotes interest and participation in sport and sporting activities, individual achievement, and community development.
