
Interested in one of the largest collections of Bronze Sculptures in Canada ? If yes, then you cannot miss Geert Maas: Sculpture Gardens Gallery and Studio located on 250 Reynolds Road. Kelowna, BC and open throughout the year from 10.00 am to 5.00 pm. Geert Maas was born in The Netherlands and he moved to Kelowna in 1979 and founded Geert Maas Sculpture Gardens and Gallery. Geert's areas of expertise include sculpture, painting, reliefs and medallic art.
Geert Maas has also designed and made several awards like: 'Museums in Motion' which is annual provincial award for British Columbia Museums Association, 'Ostec Award' that is annual award for Okanagan Science & Technology Council, the annual provincial award for Theatre BC Mainstage, British Columbia called 'The Thespian' and the Kelowna Tourism Award etc.
The current juried exhibition at Geert Maas Sculpture Gardens Gallery( till September 5, 2008) is 'THE BEST OF MASC' by members of the Medallic Art Society of Canada.
The opening reception of this exhibition on Saturday, July 5th 2008, was attended by representatives from Central Canada and Seattle and was very well received. Medals from across Canada, the U.S.A. and Australia are on display and a Catalogue is available. This is the third major exhibition of the Medallic Art Society of Canada, the first having been their inaugural exhibition at the Canadian War Museum in Ottawa in 2002-3, and the second, "Monumental Miniatures" at the Canadian Sculpture Centre in Toronto in 2005.
Many of the art works of Geert Maas are available for purchase and can be bought to adorn your living room, corporate or private art collection. Some of the popular sculptures include: Goddesses of the universe, Human Shells, Puzzle Piece Variations, Lifelines and Dante's Ascent. These beautiful pieces of art simply leave the viewers in awe.
