Get Fit with Yoga

yoga.jpgOnset of the summer triggers the exercise syndrome in people. They work hard to shed all those pounds they have gained over Christmas and Thanksgiving dinners. One of the best forms of fitness programs is to join Yoga Classes. After practicing Yoga, people feel more fit, flexible, happier and peaceful. The other benefits of Yoga include: relieving stress and fatigue, invigoration and vitality and improving chronic conditions like headaches, back ains ,respiratory and other diseases.

I have recently joined one of the most popular yoga classes in Kelowna: 'Bikram Yoga.' Bikram Yoga is a routine of 26 poses, which works the whole body in 90 minutes.

What makes Bikram Yoga different from other kind of yoga programs is that it is conducted in a warm room. The concept behind using the hot room is that it allows the muscles to stretch more easily and sweat a lot more, thus releasing toxins out of the body. I was quite impressed by my yoga instructor when i took the introductory yoga class for the first time to get the feel of this program. My instructor, the former waitress and now full time yoga instructor since last few years, had a perfectly toned and amazingly flexible body. One of my friends, Krista, who has been attending these classes since last year tells me how this program has helped her maintain weight, reduce stress, gain strength and feel good about her body.

The Bikram technique allows the stretching, squeezing and massaging of the internal organs, flushing out the cardiovascular system and stimulating the endocrine and nervous systems in order to release any deficient hormones and enzymes.

If you are considering trying out Yoga this year , you can try one of the introductory classes at this place with a drop in fee of $20. It is located in downtown Kelowna on 555 Lawrence Avenue. More information can be found at:
