Highway 97- Winfield to Oyama Project

Highway 97 which connects Winfield and Oyama with Kelowna is one of the busiest roads of Okanagan Valley. The Ministry of transportation has been considering upgrading the portion of this highway. The improvement of Highway 97 will lead to increased highway capacity, mobility and safety through Winfield and Oyama communities.

On Oct 16th 2007, Ministry staff will talk with the public about Winfield to Oyama project and will answer their questions. This public open house session will be held from 4.30 pm to 8.00 pm at Oyama community hall located on 15710 Oyama road ( North end of wood lake, about 0.5 km east of Highway 97). The residents of Winfield and Oyama can attend this information session to view options that are being investigated for the proposed upgrading of Highway 97 between the comunities of Winfield and Oyama.

If you are interested to know more about this project, Contact Ian Pilkington (Ministry of Transportation) on 250-712-3646.
