It's sad but true, the Kelowna forest fire which was 50 hectares in size earlier today has now reached over 300 hectares. There are three forest fires burning including major ones in Glenrosa and Fintry. The Highway is closed between Peachland and West Kelowna.10,000 people have been evacuated from about 4000 homes. Smoke could be smelled as far away as Vernon. If you, your family or friends have evacuated then please register your name, number of members at home and address by phone - 778-797-2269. You can find the Glenrosa area evacuation fire map updated http://bit.ly/wQHyF
Although the authorties are trying their best, nine houses were reported lost in Glen Rosa. We also just heard on the news that military is not yet involved but who knows eventually it might be.

Lisa
Hello,
I am in a very similar situation to TJ. I am also 20 and live out of province (AB). I have my S-100, S-200, S-300, S-1100 and ICS 100. I am interested to know if there is a practical way that I can help out. If someone could let e-mail me and let me know that would be awesome. I would love to help out.

Hey, this same type of event happened back in 2003, I was too young to help then, now Im twenty years old, in shape, and have my B.C ministry of forest wild land fire courses S-100 and 215, Fire Operations in the Wildland/Urban Interface , I would love to get involved and help, I live out of province but am leaving tomorrow, my email is allcanadian4life@yahoo.ca if any one can give me any information on how to get involved please send or post back. Hopefully this fire will get cut down quick before it ruins anymore of B.C ’s beautiful landscape.
