Lesser known communities

central_okanagan.gifWhen talking about the Central Okanagan, the focus is generally on Kelowna. Other communities in the area usually get overlooked. The Central Okanagan comprises of Peachland, Lake Country, Kelowna and Westbank.

Many times Westbank is referred to as Kelowna's west side. It is located on the West side of Okanagan lake while Kelowna is on the East side. Despite being a small community, Westbank offers all of the amenities of a big city along with some spectacular views of Okanagan valley. Lake Country is truly a hidden gem of the Okanagan Valley with a population of about 10,000 people. Lakes surrounding this town include the Okanagan, Kalamalka, Wood and Duck Lake.

25 kms south of Kelowna is a very small little town known as Peachland with a population of only about 5000 people. Peachland beckons people to enjoy water sports and relax by sparkling waters of Lake Okanagan. One of the most popular tourist attractions is Rattle Snake Island.

Summerland is located only 35 minutes drive from the city of Kelowna and is a lovely little town (population is only about 11,000) amidst orchards and vineyards. The beauty of the town is enhanced by several breathtaking beaches. Very few people know that Summerland has the only Hindu Temple in the region.

Come to Central Okanagan to relax, play and enjoy life.
