Scott Frandsen brings Silver back to Kelowna

August 16th 2008 (Saturday) was a lucky day for Scott Frandsen - a Kelowna resident because he made his city and country proud by winning a Silver Medal for rowing in Olympics 2008 in Beijing along with his teammate Dave Calder (from Victoria). After a week-long drought, Calder and Frandsen became first team to win a medal for Canada at the 2008 Beijing Games.

Brentwood College School grad Scott Frandsen and fellow David Calder won the silver medal in the men's rowing pair at the 2008 Summer Olympics by competing against victorious Australian team consisting of Drew Ginn and Duncan Free (won Gold medal) and by beating bronze-medallist New Zealanders in a Commonwealth medal sweep.

Scott Frandsen of Kelowna had been part of the Elk Lake-based two-time world champion Canadian men's eight boat, which faded to a disastrous fifth place at Athens.

Frandsen told media after his big win :

We went on the water today hoping to have our best race and we did. It's really satisfying.
