Silver Star Mountain Resort

IMAGE_055.jpg

I am just back from Silver Star Mountain Resort located about 22 km (12 miles) northeast of Vernon and about one and a half hour drive from Kelowna. It is very easy to get to this resort. If you are driving from Kelowna, connect with Highway 97 to Vernon and follow 48th Avenue to Silver Star Road.

There are several places to stay in Silver Star like Snowbird Lodge ( five star), Silver Lode Inn, Bull Dog Hotel, Pinnacles Suite Hotel, Lord Aberdeen Apartment Hotel and other vacation rentals like private town homes and chalets. Silver Star is basically made of three areas: The Village, The Knoll and The Creekside.

I would definitely recommend Bugaboos Cafe if you are looking for refreshing coffee or bite of freshly baked pastries, scones, brownies, cookies or pies. I dined at Silver Lode Inn's Swiss Restaurant which was super busy ( and a little pricey) as it was the only open restaurant in the village at this time of the year. There are many more options for dining during the Winter Season at this lovely ski resort.

During Summers, Silver Star offers activities like wildflower walking tours, alpine trail hiking, mountain biking and chairlift rides. You can also plan a picnic in a mountain meadow, with the stunning vistas of the Monashee Mountains providing the backdrop. Remember to pack a sweater or two as it can get really chilly during the night.

September 3rd is the last day of Biking Season 2007.
