Welcome to Kelowna Part 1

It seems like yesterday when I came to Kelowna for the first time but it has been about one and a half years since I have been living here. Kelowna is a lovely city nestled in the heart of the Okanagan region of British Columbia and is about a four hour drive from Vancouver (which is one of the largest cities of Canada). Although Kelowna is a small urban city with a population of about 109,000 it is growing really fast. In May 2005, Kelowna celebrated its 100th birthday which indicates that city is not too old. Neighboring cities to Kelowna are Penticton, Vernon, Summerland, Peach land and Armstrong.

The beauty of Kelowna is absolutely enchanting as it is surrounded by green forested mountains merging with lush orchards, vineyards and golf courses overlooking the sparkling and clear blue waters of the 82 mile long Lake Okanagan. If you are a nature lover, I am sure you will fall in love with Kelowna. Kelowna boasts numerous internationally acclaimed wineries, wonderful golf courses and several opportunities for sport lovers. Downtown Kelowna is the hub of all activity and has a lot to offer to its citizens and tourists alike. There are number of nice restaurants for fine dining and enjoying multi-cultural cuisine and variety of shops to enhance one’s shopping experience. A quiet walk by the lake can provide one relaxation and tranquility of the soul.

All in all, Kelowna is one of the most mesmerizing and peaceful cities in the world and your trip to Canada would not be complete without visiting this beautiful city.
